Additional power for an extra sirens / strobes on a DSC Power Series

Wiring for additional power on a DSC Power Series

Wiring for additional power on a DSC Power Series

The DSC Power Series hardwire systems, like all systems have limits to their output used for sirens and strobes. You are limited to no more than 2 amps short-term draw with a good backup battery. Short term means during a reasonable alarm period. I’d recommend keeping your bell cutoff time to under 5 minutes to stay within the “short term” guidelines. Note: The manual states the limit is 700ma, however this is without a backup battery and a continuous rating and as such is usually not pertinent to most users.

You’ll find current draw ratings on the sounders and strobes we sell, but as a general rule we tell people you can put one indoor siren and one outdoor siren on the system and stay under this 2 amp limit. Of course you could swap the indoor siren for a strobe and stay under too since strobes typically draw less. If you need more than this however it’s time to look at an additional power supply to power additional sirens or strobes. (more…)

DSC Impassa Self-contained Wireless Alarm System

The DSC Impassa Self-contained Wireless Alarm System is DSC’s newest offering and is actually the new and improved version of DSC’s old 9047 model. Just like DSC’s 9047; the Impassa is in all-in-one unit, but that’s pretty much where the comparison ends!

The Impassa Wireless system is essentially the mating of the 9047 and DSC’s Alexor system. It gives you the self-contained feature of the 9047, but also gives you the bi-directional functionality of the Alexor system.

You can use all of the accessories with the Impassa that you can use with the Alexor including the Alexor’s add-on wireless keypads; the WT5500. You can also use any of the other bi-directional devices such as the WT4911B Wireless Outdoor Siren, DSC-WT4901 2-Way Wireless Indoor Siren, DSC-WT4989 Wireless 2-Way Key Fob, etc. (more…)

WiFi IP BAT Broadband Alarm Transmitter Communicator

WiFi IP BAT Broadband Alarm Transmitter Communicator

The WiFi IP BAT Broadband Alarm Transmitter Communicator is the latest release from IPDatatel. This works just like their regular IPBAT but instead of connecting the panel to a router via ethernet cable; this version is a two piece unit. One piece wires into your control panel and then you take the wireless gateway and attach it to your router. This will give the module the ability to communicate back and forth without a long run of ethernet cable.

It gives you all of the functionality of the original IP BAT and none of the hassle of running ethernet cable through the house.

You still get the ability to go online and sign in, through any web browser, and set up your contact list, review your systems event log, and access the system through the virtual keypad. (more…)

DSC PC 5601 Status Module

DSC PC5601 LED Status Module

DSC PC5601 LED Status Module

The DSC PC5601 Status Module is a hardwired connection that allows you to see the status of your DSC Power Series alarm system from outdoors and away from the keypad. The status light is especially convenient when using key chain remotes or “key fobs” ….. those of you that use key fobs know what I mean, you get in your vehicle to pull away and grab your remote to arm your system but, there is always that “what if” feeling – did it arm? This will drive you crazy but, with the status light, you just need to look and see what color the LED is….

Green = Ready to Arm
Red = System is armed
Amber = System has been in alarm (more…)

DSC PC5601 LED Status Module

DSC PC5601 LED Status Module

The DSC PC5601 LED Status Module is a LED light that connects to your DSC Power Series Alarm System’s four wire keybus and gives you constant visible system status and can be mounted outside.
The 5601 is very simple to understand by using three colors to tell you if the system is armed, disarmed, or has an alarm in memory.

Green = System ready to arm
Red = Armed
Amber = System has been in alarm
Doesn’t get much simpler than that. (more…)
